This Standing desk was designed for an open, unused space in our customer's kitchen, so that the laptop, mail, newspapers, fliers could be removed from the counters. The desk is appointed with many features found on more elegant pieces of furniture, such as reeded Marlborough legs with cuffed feet, brackets at the top of the legs, bead moldings around the writing surface and gallery top and tambour doors. Practicality and durability are also designed into this desk so that it will stand up to every day use.
It is 48 inches wide, 51 inches high and 31 1/2 inches deep. The writing surface is 40 inches from the floor, which is a comfortable standing working height of our customer. The primary wood is cherry and secondary wood pine. Cherry and rose wood were used for the gallery tambour doors. The writing surface is black satin Corian. Cherry stain and an oil/urethane finish were applied to give the desk a slightly aged cherry color.
A unique feature of this desk is that it can be placed anywhere in a room, against a wall, perpendicular to a wall, or in the middle of a room. Moldings continue all the way around the desk. All four legs have reeds, brackets and cuffed feet. The gallery back is a single piece of cherry veneered plywood held in place with moldings and grooves, no fasteners were used, which would detract from the appearance.
This desk has found a home. However, we would be glad to work with you to create one to fit your needs. Price as seen $6000.00.
